Timmy Global Health Medical Brigade-May 2025

Timmy Global Health is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to healthcare and empowering students to tackle global health challenges, both locally and abroad. Our chapter at Indiana State University sends teams of medical professionals and undergraduate students to Ecuador twice a year. We work closely with local organizations to provide medical services to underserved communities in Guangaje, located in the Andes Highlands. Since 2015, over 125 ISU students have participated in these medical brigades.

Your contribution will help fund critical supplies like medical equipment, prescriptions, and other resources needed to meet the pressing healthcare needs of over five hundred individuals who may otherwise go without care. Every donation directly supports the brigade’s mission to increase access to healthcare, relieve suffering, and promote health equity.

Why Support This Brigade? Timmy Global Health’s mission is to empower students, volunteers, and healthcare providers to fight health disparities worldwide. By supporting this brigade, you’re not only contributing to the immediate health and well-being of those in Ecuador but also helping create a sustainable partnership that trains, educates, and empowers local communities.

Join us in making a difference! Even a small donation can have a huge impact. Thank you for helping us bring healthcare, hope, and healing to those who need it most.

Meet Timmy Global Health's volunteers from the previous brigade as they share their stories from the field, bringing critical care to communities in need. MEET OUR EXECUTIVE BOARD!

Nick Doll: President

My name is Nick Doll, and I am a junior chemistry major with aspirations of pursuing a career in medicine. Over the past three years, my involvement with Timmy Global Health has been a deeply transformative experience, highlighted by two medical brigades to Ecuador. One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned is to never take what we have for granted, as many communities around the world lack access to necessities like clean water and essential medications—resources that are often readily available in the United States. The two brigades I have been on opened my eyes to these global disparities and reinforced my dedication to Timmy’s mission of expanding healthcare access. This organization has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth, helping me develop crucial leadership skills and gain life-changing insights, particularly through my experiences abroad.

Pia Carino: Secretary

My name is Pia Carino and I am a sophomore Chemistry major with a public health minor. During my time as a Timmy member, I have been on two medical brigades. I have learned so much from the medical providers I worked with, and the impact that the Ecuadorian communities and their culture have made on me is profound. The brigades have made me so much more grateful for the things that I have in my life. To me, Timmy has always been a place for opportunity. It gives both me and other students the opportunity to make connections and serve the people around us. In the short time I’ve been involved in this organization, I have already built bridges that will propel me to greater heights both academically and socially. Because of academics, it is easy to become very absorbed in oneself, so Timmy for me is also a place where I can focus my attention on others and how I can help their needs.

Jherob Rivera: VP of Finance

Majoring in chemistry with a biochemistry focus, I found my experience on the brigade to be very meaningful and eye-opening. It gave me a new perspective on the world, exposing me to the realities of those living with limited access to healthcare. Helping others and witnessing their daily struggles made me realize how fortunate I am. Alongside that, I gained valuable experience working with medical professionals, strengthening my teamwork and communication skills at the same time. To me, Timmy Global Health is more than just a university organization; it’s a close-knit family dedicated to making a lasting impact on communities, both locally and in Ecuador.

Raina Makhlouf: VP of Marketing

Hi! My name is Raina Makhlouf. I am a junior majoring in Kinesiology and Pre-Physical Therapy. My position is VP of Community Service, and this is my first semester! I went on the January 2024 brigade, and it was a lifechanging experience. The brigade gave me a new perspective and outlook on life as it made me realize how lucky I am and the luxuries we experience in the US. I also came back with a new sense of gratitude. We have such great access to healthcare that we can go to a clinic for a sore throat, while in Ecuador, they can endure lingering pain for years and not bat an eye. Being a part of Timmy is an amazing experience as we can affect someone else’s life and change it for the better. Taking an hour a week to come together with friends to obtain a common goal is very rewarding and I’m so blessed to be able to have this opportunity.

Jetta Harmon: VP of Fundraising

Hello! My name is Jetta Harmon and I am a Sophomore Biology major on the pre-medicine track, with a minor in coaching. I am super excited to be going on my first brigade in May of 2025! To me, Timmy means serving people from all over the world, while making an impact on lives, families, and generations to come. Timmy is so much bigger than just a service organization. Timmy changes student’s and patient’s lives each day, giving people hope for a better future, and allowing students to go on brigades in Ecuador, dramatically changing a person’s entire outlook on their life. Timmy enables me to serve people and communities in a way that I normally would not be able to, allowing me to grow not only as a student pursuing the medical field, but also as a leader.

Addison Sisil: VP of Advocacy

Hello! I'm Addison Sisil and I am a sophomore Chemistry major at ISU. To me, Timmy means growing through serving others. The focus of the organization is on serving the community and being able to provide access to medical care in Ecuador. However, in the process of serving others Timmy allows the members to grow together as a community. Timmy is comprised of like-minded and driven individuals who are looking to invest their time and energy into making the world better to others and giving back to those who need the support.

Pierce Herbert: VP of Advocacy

My name is Pierce Herbert and I am a junior in pre-med double majoring in math and chemistry. Timmy is the time I spend with like-minded people who genuinely care about helping those in need. Being able to take an hour or two every other week to have fun and work with others to help obtain a common goal has been a stress-reliever throughout my college career. The true joy people express in Timmy is something I hadn't experiences before joining Timmy. The energy and excitement is present in every Timmy meeting, which means a lot to me!  It makes you excited and eager to help underserved people, whose lives we consistently aim to improve.

Ella Moustgaad: VP of Public Relations

Hi! My name is Ella, I am majoring in biology (pre-med) with minors in biochemistry and French, as well as I am on the Swim and Dive team here at ISU.  I recently participated in a brigade last May and it was truly one of the most impactful experiences I have ever had in my life. Being able to travel to a new country and experience how other people live was eye opening. I was able to learn so much from both the people in Ecuador and the medical providers that came with us. For me, Timmy means helping others and new opportunities. Ever since joining Timmy at the beginning of my freshman year, I have met so many people who share similar interests with me and have become some of my best friends. Timmy has also been a big learning experience, and I have been able to contribute to many different causes to help others in our community and in Ecuador.

Elizabeth Marcolini: May 2025 Trip Leader

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Marcolini and I am a senior majoring in Biology/PreMedicine with a minor in Chemistry. Timmy Global Health has been one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience, giving me a sense of purpose and belonging. The brigades have allowed me to combine my passion for medicine with service, helping me grow as a leader and future physician. I deeply appreciate how our team—comprising of students, doctors, translators, and community members—unites to deliver empathetic care to those in need. Every trip reinforces the importance of global health equity and reminds me why I want to dedicate my life to medicine. Beyond the impact we make, Timmy has given me lifelong friendships and a second family that supports me in every way. The experiences I’ve had on the brigades I have been on are some of the best of my life, and I will always cherish the lessons and memories they’ve given me.
